Staying at home and waiting for the right person to knock on your door doesn't get us anywhere. We have to put ourselves out there.
According to the law of large numbers, to get what we are looking for we need to make contact with people who will lead us to it. Perhaps the person you were just chatting to, knows of someone who will be interested in your new business, or who needs the product you are about to launch. The more people we talk to and link up with, the better chance we have of connecting with the right person to help us on our way to sales.
A friend starting a new consultancy service decided to apply this sales method to her business. She committed to contacting ten people every day to tell them what she was doing. That made fifty people per week, two hundred in a month and if she kept it up for the whole year 2400 people, all of whom have their own network of people, who just might need her service.
