Sales Training Tips:

Sales Training Ideas - 3 Keys to Finding the Drive to Sell

Like almost anything else, once you find the drive and the passion for selling, sales success usually follows. That being said, what are the keys to that drive?

3 Keys to Drive Your Sales Success

1) The two most important "mental" aspects in selling are: attitude and self-discipline.

With the right attitude and self-discipline, you'll do what needs to be done when it needs to be done regardless of what's going on in your personal life, your professional life, or anywhere else in life for that matter. In other words, you could get a flat tire on the way to work, get a traffic ticket on the same trip into work, you could have a relationship issue at home and yet, with the right attitude, and with self-discipline, you'll show up on that difficult day, put your game face on and do what needs to be done. If you can show up on the tough days and do what needs to be done, you'll be light years ahead of most people and you'll be successful in pretty much anything that you do.

2) Motivation

Motivation is the key to attitude and self-discipline. The more motivated you are, the more likely you are to have the right attitude and have self-discipline. If you are extremely motivated, you simply will do whatever you have to do to get to where you need to go.

3) WHY?

Why is the one 3-letter word that drives all motivation. Why do you get up in the morning, why do you go to work, and why do you do anything else that you do? Do you do it so that you can put your kids through college? So you can live the life of your dreams? Is it to make someone proud of you? Is it because someone told you that you couldn't do something or that you'd never amount to anything?

You have to come up with as many powerful reasons as possible here. You've got to go deep on this one and make it emotional, you've got to stir up some pain. Unfortunately people are driven more by pain than pleasure. But you've got to have both to be most effective, the carrot and the stick. You've got to be running toward something and away from something, toward the life of your dreams and away from the life of your nightmares.

Your reasons why will drive your motivation, attitude, and self-discipline. Come up with many powerful reasons why, and your success will be virtually guaranteed.

Bonus tip: Insulate yourself from negatives. Avoid negative news and people. At the same time, put anything upbeat, inspirational, and motivational into your brain, because a positive thought and a negative thought can't occupy your brain at the same time.
