Sales Training Tips:
Effective Presentations in Sales Courses
Sales presentations are often packed with pressure because they represent the moment of truth. Once that presentation begins, it's time to put your best foot forward and totally satisfy your prospect. Anything less could result in a sales disaster. I have a few sales presentation tips that will help you to deliver powerful and effective presentations.
Use A Trigger
A trigger is a something you say to yourself to clear your mind and get yourself focused on the task at hand. My trigger is "Show Time". Once I say "Show Time" to myself, I'm ready to deliver and delivering is the only thing on my mind. I'm no longer thinking about my home or my office. I'm only thinking about that sales presentation. I urge you to develop your own trigger and use it before every presentation as a technique to totally center your concentration on your performance.
The Start Of A Sales Presentation
Your message will never be heard if you fail to build rapport with your audience. Connect with your audience by demonstrating that you are approachable, friendly and willing to help. Accomplish this by being professional and confident.
Never begin a sales presentation by telling a joke or some rambling story that goes nowhere. Show appreciation and respect for the time your audience is giving to you. Efficiently review your agenda and ask your audience if there is anything else they would like you to cover.
Remember that an effective sales presentation is not a lecture. Sales presentations must be interactive. Your audience must participate and be involved in the presentation. Insure they know you welcome questions and comments. The goal is to maintain control of the presentation while allowing others to participate.
Confidence is something your audience must see in you. That confidence gives authority to your message and helps you to maintain control over the presentation.
Sales Presentation Tips
Most sales presentations rely on some visuals in the form of charts or graphs. As with most things, there is a right and wrong way to use visuals during a sales presentation or any other type of presentation.
Establish eye contact with individuals as you scan the audience. Your mission is to make every individual feel that you are talking directly to him or her. This is a great way to "pull" people into your presentation.
Never turn your back to your audience and never read a visual to them. Always face your audience and add information to the visuals... but never read them word for word.
How To Structure A Sales Presentation
Structure your sales presentation according to the steps in the sales process. Keep in mind that a sales presentation is a selling event. The most effective way to sell something is by following the sales process. If you are not familiar with the sales process, I urge you get some sales training on the subject.
Eventually, it comes down to "problem uncovered" / "solution presented". At this point you may ask for questions as a way to address any potential misunderstandings. Last but not least, remember to close and ask for some kind of commitment.
I hope you'll remember and use these tips during your next sales presentation.
