Sales Training Tips:

10 Sales Course Techniques to Boost Your Sales

How would you like to be able to raise your salary this week? Well, if you are in sales, then you have the perfect opportunity to do just that. But you're probably also aware that to get different results, you need to do things a little bit different to what you're doing right now. Here are the things you can start doing right now to boost your sales:

1. The "One More" Principle

How many times do you normally ask for the sale? Start simply by adding one more request than you normally would. The average person says no five or six times, before they say yes. But the average salesperson usually gives up after one or two times of hearing no. Also, if you have to find your prospective leads (cold calling, door knocking), call on one more customer a day just after you've decided to quit.

2. Build a Follow Up System

Advertising research reveals that nearly 50% of buyers take up to three months to become customers. While it is still a good idea to make sure you push for the sale on the first presentation, building a solid follow-up system will help you to start collecting some of the sales which are falling through the cracks right now.

3. Referrals Really do Work

In addition to building a good follow-up system, develop a reward system for your customers who bring you referral business and start asking them for referrals. Word of mouth advertising is the most effective type of advertising you can have on your side and asking for referrals could end up increasing your sales by 30% or more.

4. Develop Your Own Lead Generation

Are you working for someone else and depending on them to bring you new leads? If so, make an investment in yourself and find a place to purchase your own leads. Just be sure that the company you are purchasing leads from is credible.

If you're already developing your own leads, make a commitment this week to find one additional screening for lead generation. This will cost you some extra money, but the payoff will be worth it.

5. Get a Specific Goal

Have you ever wondered why you never seem to miss the mark when it comes to making enough money to pay your monthly bills? It's because you have a specific goal in mind which you MUST hit, come hell or high water. So why not set yourself a specific goal, which includes your monthly expenses plus some extra money for fun?

6. Challenge Yourself

Try creating some kind of circumstance where you have to make more money than you're used to making. You can start by putting the thousand dollars in your savings account and agreeing not to touch it under any circumstances. This will create a psychological impression that you MUST make another thousand dollars to pay your bills. Most of the time, this kind of necessity is enough to get you super motivated.

7. Feed Your Mind

You're probably already aware of how important your mindset is when it comes to being effective in sales. But have you made the daily commitment to spending 30 minutes reading motivational literature or sales training literature? If not, you're sales skills probably aren't going to improve on their own. So feed your mind, even if it's just listening to CDs in the car on the way to work.

8. Become a Better Listener

If you really take the time to listen to your prospects, you will find that they are much better at overcoming their own objections than you are at overcoming theirs. The key is to ask questions during your presentation which will smoke out their objections, and use that information to close them later on. When you do this, you will find that people are much more easily convinced by their own words than by yours.

9. Start the Day off Right

Starting the day off right is crucial when it comes to putting yourself in the frame of mind for success. Commit to doing your motivational reading for 30 minutes every morning, and as soon as you get to work, do 60 minutes of nothing but prospecting for new customers. This will help you to build the momentum that will carry you through to the end of your sales day.

10. Teach to Learn

Find someone to teach sales skills to, and take them under your wing. Teaching is a great way to sharpen your skills and it helps build your confidence as a professional salesperson. It will also persuade you to practice what you preach and to make more of the skills, which you already have, available to you.
