STIHL Builds Better Relationships with Sales Training America
STIHL Incorporated, manufacturer of the
number one selling brand of chain saws and cut-off machines
in the world, has partnered with Sales Training America to
create and implement a customized sales communication skills
program for a key segment of the company’s sales team.
Working together through Sales Training America’ needs
assessment process, designed to identify client needs and
requirements and build targeted curriculum, the companies
will be running an Essential Sales Communication Skills
program by the end of 2005. The interactive program will
take place over a one-day period and will coincide with an
annual sales team meeting designed to prepare sales reps for
the 2006 sales year.
The program was designed with the premise of empowering the
sales team with the skills required to more effectively
build relationships with their customers. By focusing on
listening more effectively, centering on client needs and
truly understanding how they can bring value to their
customers, the sales team will be able to play a more
valuable role as consultants. Customers will benefit by
receiving the personal attention that will enable them to
compete more effectively against larger retailers who carry
competing brands. Interactive exercises will be incorporated
throughout the class so as to ensure skills are implemented
more effectively. In addition, a custom exercise will enable
reps to practice listening and critical thinking skills via
STIHL-specific scenarios that will provide immediate
applicability.

STIHL Incorporated began manufacturing at the Virginia Beach Facility in
1974 with the assembly of the 015 chain saws. The manufacturing area was
expanded in 1983 and again in 1990 and in 2004 to its current size. In
October of 1996, STIHL opened a new 50,000 square foot warehouse. In
2004 another warehouse facility of 135,000 square feet was opened to
house finished goods for world wide distribution.
