Assertiveness Training Seminar

Seminar Outline:

Assertiveness is the art of saying how you feel and asking for what you need in ways that respect the rights of others without ignoring your own. That seems so simple, but for most of us it is very hard. Some people are pushy, aggressive and rude. Some people are withdrawn and shy. Most of us in the middle suffer in silence because we don’t want to seem selfish, but we eventually still erupt in an outburst of frustration. This is a problem in most relationship settings, but it is especially troublesome at work, where worries about losing a job also work against the desire to speak up.

During our ½ day Assertiveness Training seminar, you will learn the basis principles and techniques regarding how to practice assertiveness. We will help you learn to identify important areas where you might want to practice being more assertive, and we will provide you with a quick and effective practice routine to prepare you to apply these skills in your everyday life.

Seminar Objectives:

Participants in the Assertiveness Training seminar will learn to:

  • Understand basic principles of assertiveness.
  • Identify feelings and express their requests in a safe, assertive manner.
  • Develop assertive skills through helpful practice routines.
  • Identify and minimize emotional issues that undermine assertive behaviors.
  • Become more aware of their passive/assertive/aggressive behaviors.
  • Practice assertive behaviors in a variety of situations.

“All aspects of the program were very good. I found that the conflict section will probably be the most useful part of the program. My interaction with the trainers was great! Their staff was very cordial and the presentation skills were very good.”
